As a boy I had a strong working class west country accent & vocabulary, but my mum drudged in a kitchen/bar job at a golf club and had aspirations for me, so kept correcting my pronunciation...
Grammar school, degree education, and socialising with the urban middle classes reduced me to a bland nondescript 'educated' accent... .. then 15 years living in East London finished me off...
