Round number four...

Alerts for: Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick

Warnings

4:53 AM ADT Wednesday 22 March 2017
Blizzard warning in effect for:
•Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick

Blizzard conditions with poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

A developing low pressure system over Maine will track eastward across southern New Brunswick today to lie over Northumberland Strait this evening. The low will then move to lie east of Nova Scotia Thursday morning.

Snow associated with the system will begin this morning and continue through the day and into tonight. Some showers will likely mix with the snow early this afternoon over southern areas of New Brunswick. Total snowfall amounts near 15 centimetres are expected.

Strong northwest winds and very cold temperatures will develop this afternoon and combine with the fresh snow to give very poor visibilities in blowing snow late this afternoon and tonight. Wind gusts near 70 km/h are expected over most areas tonight. Wind gusts up to 90 km/h are expected over some coastal locations.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.

Blizzard warnings are issued when widespread reduced visibilities of 400 metres or less are expected for at least 4 hours.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
