As Steve said, what I said was that the margin of victory was much smaller than the number of non-voters. That is a factual statement. I believe it is also relevant, and that it reinforces the view that a second vote would be reasonable. While I disagree with those who oppose such a vote, I would never call that "idiotic". It is perfectly reasonable. What does seem unreasonable is the claim that it would be undemocratic to have such a vote, and to present that as a matter of principle rather than as a political decision, in the same way that a decision to have a second vote would have been a political decision. I believe that Ireland and Denmark, where that political decision was made the other way, have as least as much right to be seen as democratic countries as the United Kingdom.
