I always thought the line "When I get back to Spain, I'm going to honor my name" makes little sense, so I sing "When THEY get back to Spain, THEY'RE going to honor my name". Slavish copying of an error in the Piedmont's original? A few other verses not mentioned: the first as a starter learned from Tom Paley, the others filched/adapted from other songs, placed within Battleship's context: Mr. Hurst the newspaper man just fixed us up a war, Said I'm selling lots of papers but I'd like to sell some more... Also. Down there in Cuba we've got another war, But I wonder if we know just what we're fighting for.......... The Spaniards were a-chasing me, I was running for my life, Next time they have a war I think I'll send my wife..........
