In retrospect, I should have said "East" (uppercase) in my poem instead of "east" (lower case). Uppercase East is a generalized geographical region, not a direction. The direction in which one faces in order to face toward The East depends on one's location on the globe. From Seattle, East is west. From Siberia, East is south. From Korea, East is just stay where you are and look down at your toes.
