We have several towns where there are by-laws that ban smoking in the downtown core. Smoking in pubs has been banned for almost ten years now. I remember the last night that you could smoke in a pub here. As for cigs and e-cigs in the folk scene, I smoked off and on over time. I used to have a ritual of having a smoke before and after going on stage. It would help me relax and focus on the music before the show I guess, and afterwards I'm not sure why I would have one. The physical withdrawal was tough. That's why nicotine replacement therapeutics (or NRT's) help me a lot. I wouldn't be in a physical state of ugh, when quitting smoking. Psychological withdrawal wasn't as bad as it is something that I really wanted to do.
