Every now and then we have to stop to remember it's a Saturday tea time kiddies TV show, lead by producers and writers who would probably prefer to make it much darker for post 9.00 watershed adult viewing... [that's the Dr Who I'd want to watch..] Hence the awkward compromises and shifts in script content and tone...??? Yes, then there was Torchwood. It's almost a shame that Doctor Who continues a show for family viewing (although that's probably the best for the BBC for continued sales prospects) If Doctor Who became darker it would need to be shown later, but would probably maintain most of its more adult audience. The Tea-Time slot could be taken over by a less intense version such as Class or The Sarah Jane Adventures or K-9 and Company
