The cat-name discussion did pussy-foot its way to another cat thread, where we talked about cooking fat. In my native Great-Lakes region of the USA, we call it "shortening", as in "short'nin bread" (that's a TUNE), and there is more than one brand of it. Never saw a brand "Trex" in the US, but we have coffee-can-sized tins of "Crisco," thanks to Proctor and Gamble. Imagine a North American pet cat named Crisco?
