Normality: There is a lovely little section in "Chocky" by John Wyndham where a dinner party takes place. During it the sister of the main couple is saying their son is a bit, well, odd. They responded by saying how the sister's child is thoroughly normal in every way. Naturally, she then denies it and comes out with little tales of how he has not been so normal. As the man of the lead couple says afterwards 'basic human psychology'. It is best not to get worked by 'normality' - it is slippery little fellow.
