Neil you are correct to say that the term "Rangers" is used in a military context in the North of Ireland. There is also the Royal Irish Rangers (a recording of whose pipe band I have) and of course one of the football teams most supported in Ulster is the Glasgow Rangers. I just wondered whether the word had such strong military associations in the South.

Good Luck.
