According to the Guardian today , biometric passports were imposed by the US on the UK via the EU. Maybe (not) the blue passports will free British people from the obligation to have their eyes scanned post-Brexit? "The irony is that the UK could have had a blue passport while an EU member. EU member state Croatia currently has a blue passport, after all.
