My shorter OED give Jersey knitted work or worsted - 1587, jersey - wollen pullover 1836, guernsey - woolen pullover 1851. All etymology that I can see for Irish geansai give it as derived from Guernsey, though whether that usage for a pullover is earlier than the English words in the same context is not clear, but would seem unlikely.
