Ewww, faceboot vomit... seriously though I'd check the Connecticut Masonic Lodge War: "A bitter Masonic war; Hiram Lodge's revolt against the Connecticut Grand Lodge, 1887" The green may be some sort of Masonic Rite symbolism.
