' festival performers come in and take over "sessions" or "sing-arounds"?' Who said anything about taking over? And if a festival performer contributes a song or tune to a session, why should you not 'pick up new material' from them as much as anyone else? (speaking as a minor festival performer who was invited to one of the RY&F sessions and played a couple of tunes when nobody else was in a hurry to start one.)
