I think John Heydon would have run another one (at the time: I doubt he would now) but the problem was finding a venue that satisfied all the requirements. I think there had been a national change in timings of terms and vacations, which made events like the National impossible, not only at Loughborough but at many similar educational institutions that might otherwise have worked. The English Country Music Weekends at the end of June, though different in focus and scale, have become a sort of replacement for parts of the National. There's certainly a lot of the same people there, and similar events.
