Will, that is very nice rendition, but I would say that pattern playing - as I understand the style - only works in 4/4 time because in that time signature players can add stresses - mainly on the off beat - to certain notes which gives the style its characteristic lilt. BTW, Bert Jansch was the master of this style and just a listen to "The Needle of Death" will demonstrate Bert's beautiful use of unexpected chords (e.g. in the key of A, the way he uses a E added 2nd chord).
