Bruce D Gulgong Folk Festival (16) RE: Gulgong Folk Festival 30 Dec 18

Sandra

I've got some photos of the John Dengate Parody competition, only a couple of official entries with a number of last minute entries that didn't meet the entry conditions, In my view the best was one done based on John's song "Bare Legged Kate" but it wasn't an official entry.

I've asked for a list of entries and the names of the writter's from the judges, but I don't know when I get it.

Anyway, the Winner was Derek Dowding, his bio for the festival is

"Derek Dowding, Songwriter with a difference. Derek presents a selection of original song ranging from satirical pieces crammed with cutting social commentary and off-beat humour as well as lilting tunes accompanying thoughtful, illustrative poetry. Side-stepping subject matter typically seen in the works of other contemporarny singer/songwriters, Dereck excels as a quirky wordsmith possessing an acute wit and an eye for overtly absurd and unjust.

A singer-songwriter primarily, but also having filled roles in bands as a lead singer, lead guitarist and bass player, Derek vocal ability has covered a broard spectrum covering Blues, Folk, Rock, Country, Musical theatre and even Operatic works.

Derek has written music for film and the theatre and is also a multiple award winning stage actor."

I don't have any contact details for Dereck, but the Festival and competition organizers should have those details.
