The trouble is that every club and session has its own character. You can't generalise about the English folk scene. Chorus singing - still active in most of the clubs that I have been to in the past year. Then again I mostly go to clubs that are heavy on trad. The ones that are dominated by guitarists singing contemporary material don't seem to have the idea, but then there were clubs like that back in the 60s too.
