John attended many events in Ireland in past years, if not so much recently. It was always good to see him and we corresponded on several subjects. He's one of those people, who once fired with enthusiasm, never lacked for energy or invention and I am heartily pleased for him and for the recognition this award gives to, not just him, but the songs, lore and music he loves.
