Yes but if you say your folk/traditional songs are different, you need to draw lines and I really cannot see why! Any sensible singer in any genre makes a subjective decision about whether a song is 'good' for his or herself & I agree that it 's 'good' only if it means something/strikes a chord, however you define it. Whether it's folk, traditional, blues, jazz, hiphop or whatever has absolutely nothing to do with it.
