GUEST,keberoxu Louisa Dutch song (3) RE: Louisa Dutch song 02 Apr 19

Hope you can hold on to your patience!
We Mudcatters love a puzzle to solve,
but some of us need more info to go on.

Me, I tried a quick-and-dirty Google search
and when something surfaced in search results,
I guessed that it must be
where you got this information in the first place.

Murray, could you please confirm -- or deny --
that you are referring to this source?

Songs of Roving and Raking
John Walsh, 'contributor' [the term used by Google Books]

Direct quote:
"The tune, incidentally, is also known in Holland as
'Louisa' a children's song." [no page number]

Now, about that tune name.
If it is Dutch, we have a pedantic question here.
"Luise" would be the German spelling;
"Louise," the French spelling;
and according to one Dutch/Nederlandse - language
web page for names for babies,
"Louisa" is the spelling that
is more common to the Flemish/Walloons/Belgians
than it is to the Netherlands.
Take your pick ...
