When I was in training in the 1960s I was horrified to find the US Dewey schedules put books on the KKK in "charitable institutions". I declined to follow suit!
However, I don't agree with airbrushing people's names out of history. If you do that no-on will ever go back and look at who they were and what they did for good or ill. Few "great" men (and in those days usually men) were all good and many bad 'uns could do something good once in a while.
