Loco Locomotive Man (Larry W. Jones 09/01/2007) (song#4899)

Coal black smoke was pouring from the stack
Six wheel drivers made the engine moan
The locomotive was racing down the track
Shaking everybody down to the bone
The train was rocking as away it ran
All of the passengers could only groan
On a train driven fast by a loco locomotive man

This passenger train is gonna roll as fast as it can
The laughing engineer said as he pushed the throttle home
All thought the end was near with a loco locomotive man
At the throttle singing his loco locomotive song

– instrumental –

All thought the end was near with a loco locomotive man
At the throttle singing his loco locomotive song

Then over the top of the coal car climbed old Hobo Dan
He had been riding the rails since railroads began
Hobo Dan said, I’ve been riding the rails without a plan
But never with a loco locomotive man
To the cab he made his way and fought with the engineer
Old Dan saved the day as he eased the throttle down
On his knees was this advice, as he knew his end was near
All you passengers, listen and give me your ear
Never ride with a loco locomotive man

Never ride with a loco locomotive man
