Okay folks, so I'm 19 years late to the party. I just happened to be Chord Tabbing the Archie Fisher version of this song 'Welcome, Royal Charlie'. It is very similar to the version by The Tannahill Weavers, but differs from all the other versions posted on this thread. Archie Fisher version: [Verse] The prince who should our king ha'e been He wore the royal red and green A bonnier lad was never seen Than our brave royal Charlie [Chorus] Ohh, ye've bin lang a comin' Lang, lang, lang a comin' Ohh, ye've bin lang a comin' Welcome royal Charlie [Verse] Since our true king was sent awa' A dighty German rules us a' And we are forced against the law For the rights belong tae Charlie [Chorus] [Verse] We daurnae brew a peck o' maut Or German Geordie finds a faut And for our kail we've scarce got saut For want o' royal Charlie [Chorus] [Verse] When Charlie in the Hielan' shiel Were gaithered wi' the great Lochiel Oh, what kindness did prevail Between the chief and Charlie [Chorus] [Verse] At Falkirk and at Prestonpans Supported by oor Hieland clans We broke the Hanoverian bands The rights belong tae Charlie [Chorus] [Verse] For the prince who should our king ha'e been He wore the royal red and green A bonnier lad was never seen Than our brave royal Charlie [Chorus]
