Okay, someone mentioned Benny Hill. Here's a joke fabricated from a line in a song that Mr. Hill sang on one of his shows. I suspect that line, in turn, came from some venerable Burlesque/Music Hall joke:

A man is at a gathering, and he sees the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. Thoroughly smitten, he walks up to her and says "Excuse me, miss - I would like to have you for my wife." To which the woman replies "What would your wife want with me?"

I suspect the original was better.
