I'm glad of clubs like this, with these rules, but I'm also glad of those more lax. It's a funny thing at folk clubs, when people bring in lyrics and such and they can't really sing in tune or time. I actually quite enjoy it - hearing the lady from the Post Office belting out a number. I'm far more comfortable with that than the sometime mannered voices of singers a rung or two up the ladder, or somebody who has almost mastered a Bert Jansch tune. The voice is such a beautiful, personal instrument, hearing it unaccompanied for a song or two is a treat.
