John had the ability to take a common occurrence like witnessing a minor auto accident ("The Accident") or watching a spouse zone out ("Linda Goes to Mars") and transform it into something truly extraordinary. He belongs in the same pantheon as Mark Twain, Will Rodgers and Kurt Vonnegut. He spoke to my own somewhat off-kilter worldview like no other songwriter.
