Need help with the lyrics to 'I Courted A Soldier'. There are 2 recordings, both exactly the same lyrics: This one - Dolores Keane - I Courted A Soldier And this one - Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh - I Courted a Soldier These are the lyrics I managed to make out. I think the first verse is correct, the other 3, not so much: [Verse] I courted a soldier who loved another Neither father nor mother, sister nor brother For love it is lonely, it looks for no shelter Content in itself, though inclined to wander [Verse] A soldier went walking through lands ????? And follow the road down with/midst sorrow and ??pain?? In trees I search for him, to lead ??hither?? For my love, he ???chase the hare from its den??? [Instrumental] [Verse] My love, when he left me, he promised me jewels Bracelets and bangles and soft silver bells For love it is lonely, inclined to be cruel The joy that it gives is the ????? [Verse] And soldiers go walking through lands ?????? And follow the road down with/midst sorrow and ??pain?? In trees we search for them, to lead ??hither?? For my love, he ???chase the hare from its den??? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
