Ray - my first visits to Barnsley FC were in the early 70s when it was at the George. Jenni mentioned the Wheatsheaf and if my maths is correct then she would be talking of 1965/6. A copy I have of the Folk Directory for 1967 gives the club address as the (King) George and Derek as the organiser. Derek at that time lived on Racecommon Road and the Wheatsheaf (now no more) was on Racecommon Road so who knows? Derek (and Dorothy) unfortunately would not be able verify which venue is correct for Jenni's Diary. I suspect she is probably right. There is very little on Barnsley folk club or most other folk clubs for that matter on the web - shame - and we have probably missed the opportunity to put that right.
