About "McGrath the cattle jobber"

First time I visited Ireland was 1964.

In a country fair I still remember the in-between taking a piece of horse manure from the ground, rub it on the back of the horse, make the seller and the buyer shake hands, and that fixed the sale.

I wonder if this is still the way, as at eighty I can no more hire a car in Ireland, and I don't feel like driving 1,500 miles to get there.
Besides, having gout now, beer is not allowed.
