To Phil: “My” George is not the guy in the 1970 Cashbox photo. That was easy. I also noticed looking into this a little further, that when George packaged some of June's tracks with the two by Nina Simone, he nicknamed June “Sassy.” June had no such nickname. That was simply a marketing ploy to get you to confuse her with Sarah Vaughan, whose nickname was indeed Sassy. it was just one more subliminal cue to lure in the unsuspecting buyer. I also noticed that there was overlap between tracks on the original folk album issued under June's name and the Nina Simone album. George’s thinking, and he was entirely correct, is that there was unlikely to be overlap between those two markets.
