The effect of a narrow waterway being attacked by wakes would naturally narrow the waterway even more due to erosion. Apparently, the Egyptians have not been keeping up with the maintenance. If done properly, this approach would have gradually widened and deepened the canal unobtrusively, making this sort of problem less likely. Has anyone else noticed that the price of gas at the pump seems to have gone down since the ship was moved?
