€140 sounds a lot for a single track. In the UK the MCPS charges 6.5% of Retail Price x number of copies made. That's for the whole CD and is split between all the tracks. You don't pay for tracks which are non-copyright. A run of 500 CDs to be sold at £10 each would cost £325 assuming all the tracks were copyright. Assuming 12 tracks of equal length, that's £27.08 per track. However for that number you could get a Limited Manufacture Licence for £163.40/£13.62 per track. Different countries may have different rates but it still sounds a lot to me. Did you provide the website with information on all the tracks on the CD or just that one?
