Phil,

Checking with Tony Russell's discography and the notes to the County 406 album by Roy Hall & his Blue Ridge Entertainers it would appear that the two tracks which are credited to The Hall Brothers on RM-1 were in fact from Roy Hall & his Blue Ridge Entertainers; Roy Hall, Tommy Magness, Bill Brown and twins Clayton & Sanford Hall (who were not related to Roy). They were recorded in October 1940. Red Wilson probably dubbed the tracks from Steve Ledford's large collection of 78's as he did for Steve's 12" album on the same label.

Regarding the info re James Faye Hall I am puzzled. It seems that there were twelve Hall children three of whom went on to renown as musicians; Roy Davis Hall, Jay Hugh Hall and Rufus Hall born 1921.
