I'd like to submit that the tune more resembles "Jamie Raeburn" and that many of the verses are similar. I have found a Maine woods song in the Flanders collection called "The Hills of Caledonia" with a tune that straddles the two songs,though the time signature is different, so it was certainly known here in the Northeast.
