It arrived in the post yesterday. Lovely cover. Didn't realise it would have a few tunes in their too - a nice bonus, given I'm a fiddle player. Some interesting things in there on first read through. 'Fountain of Christ's Blood' is possibly the most grand guignol carol I've ever seen! I hadn't seen that carol before. Strong stuff, I'll definitely alarm a few people down the local folk club with that one at our Christmas singaround! Also, I don't remember 'Billy Taylor' (William Taylor) being quite so dramatic in the other versions I know - I like the version in here very much. And collected in Witney too, where my other half grew up - a place I know very well. The book's reminded me that 'The Robin's Petition' is a song I'd been meaning to learn as well. It's a lovely book - well done and many thanks Nick. Roll on volume 2!
