Perhaps gun control should be modelled on the Swiss system. Following the spirit and the letter of the Second Amendment's opening words, all gun owners are regarded as voluntary military reserves, and under military discipline as far as their weapons are concerned. Attendance at periodic training camps is compulsory. Any misuse of weapons, including unauthorised carrying in public, to be dealt with by court martial. Won't happen.
