Whilst I don't condone needless title changing, if it helps to keep EFDSS in funding then perhaps a necessary evil? If that is the case, then perhaps it is. However that's not an argument being put forward. The reason for the name change seems to be to increase diversity and accessibility for those who are uncomfortable with the term "English". Perhaps there is an implied threat to funding if they don't, but in that case they should come out with it.
