Part of the Falcon House Concert series, the Wilsons, that uproarious band of brothers from Teesside, are coming to the Goathland Hut in Whitby, North Yorkshire, on Sunday, March 6 and performing from 3 to 5pm. Doors open at 2:30 pm. Tickets are £10 per person in advance (go to Eventbrite or contact janiemeneely@gmail.com); £15 at the door. Tom, Chris, Steve and Mike will belt out songs in unaccompanied harmony and add their own brand of boisterous stage chatter to the mix. Once they get rolling on a song, it’s impossible not to join in. Traditional harmonies fly into the wind as the brothers wind their voices around each other like well-tuned ivy. Peter Bellamy, one of the premier architects of the 1960s folk revival, once described them as a vocal orchestra. With the recent house a’fire craze for sea music, you can expect more than a few sea chanteys during the course of the afternoon. The Hut offers a full and well-stocked bar. It is located on the Old Railway Line in Goathland, between the village cricket ground and sports field—the lane (Abbotts Farm Lane) runs next to the Goathland Hotel. Camper vans are welcome: £10/night with showers, etc.
