I remember two verses of alternate Casey Jones lyrics sung by my dad who was a devoted Christian: Casey went to a farmer's back door He said I am so hungry I can see the golden shore The farmer took him by the hand and said, boy you must be fed And the news was so sudden that it killed old Casey dead Casey died and went to heaven from here He told St. Peter I'm a good engineer St. Peter said to Casey, he said Boy you are so bold I'll send you down below where you can shovel coal. I vaguely remember part of another verse in which the action described included a bulldog getting Casey by the seat of the pants with the follow-on being, And when it was all over you could see Old Casey's ass. Of course, my saintly father ended that verse with the phrase, "you could see the glory land." I've never seen these verses cited in any search I've conducted. Hhhmmm...could it be my dad made the whole thing up? ;o)
