Thank you, Thomas. I, like most Americans under 80, never heard Miss Anderson sing in her day, and just wasn't interested in opera singers.

This year I stumbled on a televised documentary of her life, which turned out to be the one you linked to above, and was glued to the floor by what I heard. She was much more than an 'opera singer' and an unparalleled master of her art.

Is it my imagination, or was this docu only shown once? It seems like so many of the things PBS airs get repeated over and over again until 'everyone' has stumbled on it and been exposed to it.
