This is correct, within limits, and the first letter of YHWH (spelled without consonants, note!) is י -- but the standard transliteration of י is not Y but J -- as in "Jehovah," which is the consonants of YHWH/JHWH with the vowels of "Adonai," Lord (as opposed to YHWH, taken into English as (the) LORD, in small caps). Yes, the English name should have been pronounced with a Y sound, not a J sound, but it would take someone pretty knowledgeable to write that. And note that the song refers to "Jehovah."

We could probably figure out the writer's source by looking at some of those other readings, like "badger skins." But it's too late at night for me to go over the whole song. :-) Still, that first line,

A is for the Ark which by six beasts was carried around

should probably be "Ark which for six days was carried" or the like. The Ark was carried by the Levites, not beasts, and the Israelites circled Jericho for six days before the walls came down (Joshua 6:3).
