Check out James McKinney's intro to the song in this performance from over 15 years ago. He introduces it as a song he grew up hearing and that it was one of his grandmother's favorite songs. When I tried to research it 15 years ago, I found that there was a farmer named Willie Duncan back in the area where James McKinney was from... Wonder if Grandma knew something of Cruel Willie????
