Often the repeated line is varied with rhyming lines (the temptation to do so must be overwhelming). E.g., after the "parson" verse, one may hear Oh the sheriff, he came too, Oh the sheriff, he came too, With his little boys in blue, He said "Sam, we'll see you through"-- Well now, he can kiss it too, God damn his eyes.
