After several decades of listening to her recordings, she and I finally met the first time she came to Indian Neck. (Alas, I can't remember exactly what year that was.)

I vividly remember our first conversation. We were sitting next to each other in the common room at Isabella Freedman on probably Saturday morning of that weekend folk gathering waiting for breakfast. In the middle of our conversation I suddenly realized who she was and said, “You’re Heather Wood!” She promptly replied, “Yes, I am.”

What a treat for me to have been able to know her and to sing along with her at various festivals and gatherings.

I think the only photographs of Heather and me in the same frame are from the unofficial PMFF kick off session at the Thirsty Moose in Portsmouth NH.

News of her passing was a real slam to the heart first thing this morning.
