Ken Schatz posted a most loving (and comforting for those of us who knew her) tribute on Facebook.

Evidently Heather (who always said she was never ill) fell ill Monday morning. And she died in the Critical Care Unit of the hospital at 11 p.m.

The really comforting part of Ken's message was that Heather wasn't alone.

From Ken (I hope he doesn't mind me posting it here) —

"She was surrounded in the Critical Care Unit by a dozen of us representing so many more. We all talked to her, we sang to her, we held her hand. We held a phone up so she could see and hear many of her friends who couldn’t be there in person. We managed to freak out the hospital staff and the ER security desk pretty well. I think they were not expecting to have a dozen people (young friends among them) show up and insist, brazenly, rightly, one after another, that we were all her family. They for sure didn’t expect so much singing. Our great thanks to the hospital staff and guards—everyone working there was kind, understanding, and supportive. They were all super professional while making every effort to accommodate us, and really couldn’t have been nicer."

It's hard to imagine our musical world with Heather Wood no longer physically in it.
