In 2010 Ewan McVicar wrote and published the book The Eskimo Republic, about the hooraws and determined doings of makers and singers who were active in Scots political folk song from 1951 to 1999, and the earlier roots of Scots political song, including interviews with Jim McLean, Nancy Nicolson, Eric Bogle, Eileen Penman, Ian Walker, Rab Noakes, Peggy Seeger, Billy Wolfe, Sheila Douglas and twenty other movers and shakers. The book is long out of print, but Ewan has now made it into a website, including the 20+ tracks from the CD that accompanied the book, plus many more sound and video tracks and images. Find it at theeskimorepublic.website.
