The rain actually made the event more memorable for me, impressed the way everything went off without a hitch in spite of it. It certainly added an element of danger for the parkour dude carrying the torch across the rooftops. I thought the electric horse running up the Seine was tres cool. And as soon as I saw the hot air balloon attached to the Olympic Flame Cauldron I knew it was a tribute to the Montgolfier brothers and I really hoped they would lift this giant cauldron of flames into the sky, which they did. I've watched many Olympic ceremonies going back to the 60s and this was the best one yet. Applause French people, applause.
