?? Birdie Birdie in the tree Come and sing a song to me, Sing it loud and sing it long, Sing for me a pretty song Hopping skipping all around, Here and there upon the ground, Come and see the crumbs I've strewn, I have saved them all for you My mother, born in 1921, passed this lullaby on to me; her mama sang it to her, and her mama's mama (Kate W) must've sung it; her greatgrandma (MaMe W, born around 1820) most likely sang it to baby Kate. MaMe was from Kentucky, and her ancestors came there from Virginia/North Carolina with the Kendall Moss group of pioneers.
