Dick Gaughan visited Bell's at the period BD was talking about - I think they may have shared a flat nearby, along with other folkies? Gaughan stopped going into pubs after then but I don't recall any negative comments from him about the musicians. I'm not often in Edinburgh at the right time to hear Michael playing but might give it a try. Or maybe I could leave a link to this discussion on their noticeboard.
